PORTLAND, Ore. – February 1, 2010 – Today, Decipher, Inc. announces its commitment to the health and wellness within its business in 2010 with employees, partners and clients at the forefront. The marketing research firm has named itself a sponsor of the Pound for Pound Challenge—part of the charitable organization Pound for Pound that, through a partnership with Feeding America, will donate one pound of food for each pound lost among its participants from February 1 through July 1.
“The beginning of the year is traditionally a time many commit to goals surrounding health, fitness and growth both personally and professionally,” says President Kristin Luck. “Decipher is dedicated to encouraging the health and wellness of our employees, partners and clients through our sponsorship, and we’ve asked them to join us while supporting the fight against hunger in America.”
And, the company’s support throughout the challenge won’t stop at the starting line. Decipher will provide the following success tools along the way:
- Weekly health and fitness tips from Los Angeles-based celebrity fitness trainer Steve Jordan.
- A monthly $500 reward for the individual with the largest percentage of weight loss to be divided equally—$250 for the individual, and $250 to be donated to the charity of their choice.
- A Facebook group where participants can interact with others for daily support.
- An internal company support team that will provide on call pep talks, fitness and nutrition advice.
To date, the company has over 50 participants signed up with more than 1,000 pounds committed to lose. Of that amount, Decipher says 700 pounds from employee participation will equate to 700 pounds of food that will be donated to food banks in Fresno, CA and Portland, OR; the locations of Decipher’s offices. The remaining 300 pounds come from clients and partners who have committed to the cause, already sending 300 pounds of food to food banks in other areas in the U.S. such as New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.
Now in its 10th year, Decipher marked 2009 as its eighth year of consecutive, double-digit growth.

At times, long hours and challenging to-do lists can have negative effects on maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and we want to set the tone for maintaining a healthy balance in 2010,” says Luck.
