Quality Assurance

Quality Assurance is a vital component of our services. Decipher's goal is to get it right the first time, saving you the time and energy. Below are some of the measures we take to ensure that less of your time is spent in the review process.

After programming, we conduct a thorough review of the survey - checking logic, design and instruction consistency, spelling, grammar, and specifications outlined in the client requirements document.

Decipher utilizes a Survey Stress Test (SST) to provide test data, allowing Decipher's Quality Assurance Analysts to verify the programming and check for correct distribution to quota groups that you may have specified.

Prior to launching an email campaign, we send a test email to a seed list that includes you and Decipher's internal staff. This allows for easy confirmation of links, copy and email format.

Once your survey is in field, we closely monitor dropout rates and support requests to identify any potential issues early in the response period.

Data Quality

Decipher considers collecting quality data paramount to the research process. Garbage in means garbage out!

We offer a number of technology and service based solutions to insure that quality data is collected on each and every research project you field. Decipher offers advanced programming capabilities that include techniques for catching the following types of “suspect” survey taking activities.

  • Flatliners (respondents who select the same response for options within the same question or across questions)
  • Inconsistent Responses (respondents who answer the same or similar questions in different ways)
  • Speedsters (respondents who take the survey in an unacceptable amount of time…for example, completing a 20’ survey in 3’)
  • Custom Criteria (over clicking, under clicking, gibberish open ended responses, etc)

In addition to the techniques outlined above, Decipher is the first data collection firm to offer the Optimus respondent verification system.

Optimus is a filtering system that uses new patent-pending technology to digitally fingerprint and manage respondents. Here’s how it works!

  • Optimus creates a digital fingerprint of each respondents computer using patent-pending technology.
  • Each computer is tracked anytime it tries to take a survey, building a survey history.
  • Computers found to be participating in too many surveys within a predetermined time period are identified as “professional respondents” and blocked.
  • Multiple email accounts used to take surveys on the same computer are identified. Multiple panel accounts from the same computer are identified. These are blocked as duplicates.
  • Respondents speeding, flatlining or satisficing through answers are entered into the system.

Repeat suspect respondents are placed into a “rehab database” that allows you to monitor and control their activity in future surveys. Optimus can also be used to apply your definitions and control automatically- set your own definitions on a survey by survey basis.
